This engaging factual series is set at Coolibah cattle station, 600 km south-west of Darwin, Australia. It follows the daily lives of the Jones family as they muster cattle, fight fires, battle floods and even wrestle crocodiles.

This raw and humorous snapshot of family life shows just what it takes to live in the outback.

Shot over a six month period, the production was a massive undertaking. Accommodation and a production office were specially installed – the crew living in ‘dongas’ – in one of the most remote parts of Australia.

The challenges were many: isolation, floods, dust playing havoc with camera gear, crocs, snakes and vast distances to cover. All that to record an ordinary family… living an extraordinary life.

First broadcast 14 October 2010.
