The digital division of WTFN has rebranded and relaunched as Radar. Previously known as Radar MCN, the digital distribution arm of the business runs a network of highly popular VOD channels across YouTube and Facebook.
The move signifies a repositioning of the division, with activity in the market now extending beyond traditional channel and rights management. Radar will offer capability and support to channel and creator partners including talent management, brand partnerships and eCommerce.
WTFN Chief Commercial Officer Derek Dyson said, “The decision to make the transition to Radar was pretty logical. I went on a US tour last year including VIDCON and realised that we are more than just an MCN, and play a much wider role in the creator economy.”
“We’ve demonstrated our calibre as a first rate channel and rights management business. But being part of a wider new media business, we have plenty of existing and legacy capabilities that can be offered via Radar”.
Another capability Radar will be looking to exploit is original production, leveraging WTFN’s existing capabilities in that area.
“WTFN is a world class content producer. We can already see the demand from our existing channels for fresh new content and already run channels that rely on new content produced and edited every week. YouTube-first is going to be a big play for us in 2025,” Derek said.
He added, “There is no doubt too that we will be looking to take digital formats and talent, and transition these into the traditional television space. We will be looking for creator talent that has the scope to break out of YouTube and into traditional TV markets”.
